Rechargeable Battery Issue Phonak Lumity

Has anyone had a similar issue with Phonak Lumity rechargeable Battery? I purchased the hearing aids from an online seller approximately 18 months ago.

For the past week or two my LEFT hearing aid has been losing charge far sooner than in the past.

Last night when I put both HAs in the charger last night the LEFT HA light was solid red. I hoped it would be green this morning but it was still stuck on solid red. I tried using the button on the back of the aid but it never lit up, neither green nor red.

Then I tried taking them out of the charger numerous times and repositioning them slightly and a few times the green light would come on for but ONLY FOR 2 or 3 SECONDS and then go back to red again. SOMETIMES in the charger no light comes on at all.

Do I need to contact Phonak to send them for servicing?

Can you try reversing them in the charger to make sure it is the aid that is the problem and not the charger. What make and model of hearing aid and charger do you have?

I had similar problems in my left Lumity HA.
My audiologist confirmed that Lumity batteries have many issues like that. Phonak replaced the whole HA for me.

Hard reset?

The instruction manual contains information about LED colors and blinking.

I wouldn’t try hard resets if the battery is almost empty as this could lead to a sudden dead and make the device unusable if the firmware gets destroyed….

I did try that switching sides of charger and the results were the same. The left HA on the right side still showed green light for a second or two and then went solid red. Sometimes it shows neither red or green. I have been watching you tube 2 or 3 hours a day which is unusual because normally i only watch maybe an hour one day a month. I dont know the serial number of the case but its the one phonak sent with the new HAS

FIRSTly ,.HAS ANYONE SEEN MANUFACTUER SUPPORT?

Thanks for sharing your experience with similar issue. That’s good news and for the cost paid for the HA its quite appropriate. I will have to send mine to somebody as I have only a remote audiologist. Oh, i missed that they replaced entire HA, thats even better.

I sent an email to my audiologist this afternoon but did not get a reply.

Well it really isnt blinking it happens once only going from green to red but sometimes the light doesnt come on at all.

Murphys Law it happens on the weekend. Somewhere I have first hearing but they are only a hair better than nothing

I dont think i have instruction book eitherf

When I needed to return an earmold the online supplier just emailed the shipping label and repair document to me. That may speed the repair/replacement process if they will do that.

with all the problems discussed on here about Phonak batteries why do folks continue to drink their Koolaid

Phonak many times will replace a fairly new aid that’s malfunctioning with replacement new aid. due to 3 year warranty. If you bought your Lumity aids through a 3rd party online, you will not have any warranty coverage. Though I know some people live far away from HA dealers/Audi’s you’re really rolling the dice buying any hearing aid online.

Seems it’s faulty battery.

It’s not so much an “online” thing, it’s more to do with if the seller is an authorized Phonak reseller, such as a qualified audiologist that get so authorized. My audiologist is such an authorized Phonak seller and DOES provide a 3 year warranty, and sells them to me online. Service is also provided online (but not, or course, in person, therefore no REM, etc. but as a DIYer this is perfect for me.)

I will have to review my records but i do think I was told tey are authirized dealer. Im hoping or im up the creek

I desperately needed to hear again and financially online was all i could afford

Thanks it would indeed be speedier and hopefully it will all come together.

I don’t know about your HA usage, and maybe it wasn’t your case, but it is worth keeping an eye on the battery charge to ensure that it does not drop below 20-30%.

Frequent discharging below these values causes the lithium-ion battery to deteriorate faster. It is different from NiMH batteries in the past.

Yeah but, sadly, wiith Lumity it’s not so easy to avoid discharging below 20% if you do a bit if steaming…
