Have someone experienced a worsening in hearing loss and or tinnitus after long Proton pump inhibitors use ? I have some personal worsening after five months and I am curious to know if there is a possible common or rare side effect.
Been on them forever.
Hearing has not changed.
My tinnitus to me has gotten worse.
Can’t say that is because of the pumps.
To me there are to many unknowns.

Been on maximum dose of Nexium (brand and generic) for many years. More recent hearing loss due to Meniere’s.

Proton Pump Inhibitors are associated with multiple downsides, but if you really need them, benefits likely outweigh downsides. If you think you could do without, consider working with your doctor to wean yourself off.
