I got my Phonak Slim Lumity hearing aids from Boots Hearingcare about 18 months ago and after my last visit they have just not been right. There are a few issues that need sorting out, last time I went the Audi was dismissive about my streaming issues and they have since developed irritating noises. I can’t get an appointment at a sensible time until January, so I was considering finding an independent Audi. My aids came with 4 years warranty and I am wondering if that’s a Phonak warranty that I can take with me or whether some of it is a Boots warranty, effectively locking me in. Does anyone know?
Phonak international warranty is only 12 months. Boots must cover the remaining 3 years.
Thank you, that was a very quick reply!
The 4 year warranty is on the aids, but you might have difficulty getting anyone to take them on as Boots product.
You could ask Boots to send them back to Phonak if they’re not operating as you want, it’s no skin off their nose to get them serviced/swapped. I’d also bee keen to establish if the firmware has been updated since they were fitted. (As the Bluetooth they are pairing with might be different than the original set-up).
Aside from this, I assume you’ve done the pairing forget and phone re-boot to clear legacy Bluetooth pairings on the Phone which can be part of the connectivity issues.
The firmware was updated at my last visit as far as I remember and I have done the forget - re pair, even deleted My Phonak app and started again. For now the main frustration is the lack of available appointments, yes I could go a couple of days before Christmas, but I am a wheelchair user and really need to park close to the shop. It’s in an out of town (just) shopping centre and it’s always bedlam at that time. I think I will just have to wait until January and try to get a different audiologist. I will just request that they send them back. Thanks for your help.
