Does Oticon still service OPN1s?

ANSWER: as of April 2024, a member had his Oticon OPN 1s serviced by Oticon. Received his original hearing aids back repaired.

QUESTION: I am wearing Oticon OPN1s that I have had since 2017. No insurance coverage, so goal is to continue to wear them as long as they last. Does anyone know if Oticon still services OPN1s? If yes, do they actually fix them or send you an aid that has been refurbished? My audiologist says that Oticon doesn’t service them anymore.

Thanks!

Yes they do. I just sent a clients OPN S aids for service last week with no issues.

Louie, you got OPN S aids serviced. How about the original OPN? Have you gotten any of them serviced lately?

I believe I did a pair a few months ago but my memory is hazey. My understanding is (and I could be wrong here) they legally have to continue to service a hearing aid for at least 5 years after they discontinue the production/sale of that device. It might be more than 5 years… I’m not entirely sure. This will of course depends on the protection laws in each country.

My audiologist sent in my Opn 1s in April and the same aids were returned repaired.

Thanks all. Glad to hear that Oticon is still servicing OPN 1s.

Opns1pp I got in 2020 warranty last check in 2023 failed were replaced with new or refurbished aids.

Starkey has a hearing aid repair service that will repair virtually any brand of hearing aid
and they even repair very old aids.

OPN S1 , the Opn S1PP is still part of the portfolio. The Opn S1 minirte R, will have 5 yrs worth of parts

Can you tell us what is the Oticon’s asking price for OPN S1?

The cheapest hearing aid that my local Oticon’s partner still sells is single RIA2 Pro (2015 model) for $740, while I paid $800 for OPN 1 (the latest model at the time) back in 2016. The latest model they currently have is Oticon More. The manager has apparently gotten greedy and began ripping off clueless pensioners who have no idea about the model portfolio.:face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Hi,
I have brought my OPN1 (2017) to my audiologist and got it back after a week with a new machine! This costs me some 230 € only and happened in Germany.
Regards
Dirk

If you pay $800 opn 1 you had paid a pretty fair price. I wouldn’t expect a More 1 to be at that price
level. While its 3 generations old, its a solid instrument with a great sound

This is great information, one of my Oticon Opn S1 just stopped working yesterday :frowning: Do you have to do it through a hearing aid professional? I moved countries and live now in the US and don’t have a local place to take them.

I’m not sure how things work in the US. I presume you still have to take it to a provider who can then send it in for repair. Better to seek the advise of a fellow US resident on this forum

I had my OPN S1’s stop working about 3 weeks ago. It was immediately after I updated my iPhone to their IOS 18 beta 3 update. I heard 4 beeps in the left ear then 4 in the right and that was it.
I have a pair of OPN S 3’s as a back up. I started using them until I had some time to connect my OPN S1’s to Genie 2. What I did was erase the S1’s and redid the program fresh. The OPN S1’s now work perfectly, no problems.
Then as I was using my OPN S3’s the other day the exact same thing happened to them. So I erased them and then just reinstalled the program I had on them and they work nicely now.
there is something in the latest iPhone update that is not right.

Glad to hear you’ve found a resolution!
