I have worn hearing aids for over a decade. I am at the point where a hearing aid no longer helps my right ear except to give me a bit of "balance". My speech recognition in my left ear is very limited - I have to rely (unreliably!) on lipreading, and can no longer have telephone conversations. I have just begun the assessments for a cochlear implant in my right ear.
