Charlottesville, VA is my local Costco store. I checked. They are not among the 100 “trial” Costco Hearing Centers that stock the Sennheisers. But, the tech tipped me off that Harrisonburg, VA Costco has them. I called Harrisonburg Costco to check, but they never returned my call. Harrisonburg is a roughly 90-minute drive from Charlottesville. I already have Infinio Spheres, so I’m just sending a FYI.
As a long term Phonak user, I plumped for the KS10 once I knew with confidence it was parallel with the Paradise range and as the house brand, it must be a decent product. I was quietly optimistic the Sonite was the first step to having Phonak quality HAs at Costco prices once more. Now I’m not sure.
It is curious (insane?) that Sonova aren’t positioning the Sennheisers more overtly as being part of their portfolio so people might know what they’re looking at. Are they worried about dulling the lustre of Infinio?
To my mind, Sennheiser are popularly known for quality headphones not hearing aids - so an article in the in-store Costco magazine might be a start in evangelising the captive market. Teeing up some friendly influencer types to circulate broadly positive write-ups might help overcome the less-than-glorious impression the Sennheiser OTC aids made in reviews. Given Sonova appear to have actively courted Costco to get back in store, this seems an odd strategy so far.
Perhaps there’s a cunning plan at work?
This is a possibility for sure.
The KS9 aids were a huge hit for Costco. The KS10’s not so much but still excellent aids. The rechargeable battery issues were a deterrent. I can sure see Costco taking a little thunder away from Phonaks line.
I am curious about these Sonnet aids being Lumity or Infinio. Will this trial of Sennheiser at Costco bring the Infinio aids?
What I got from a local Costco was after 6 months they’d see how the trial went. If it went well, they’d get the “new” Sonova version. What that means? Who knows. I’d guess either Infinio or Infinio Sphere but just a guess.
I ordered the Sennheiser sonites last week. I walked around the store with the demos for about 15 minutes and they were incredible with regard to speech in noise. I could hear my husband very clearly in any direction. To be fair, I am replacing Phonak Brios so this technology is very new to me!
Excellent, please keep us updated about your new Sennheiser hearing aids.
Which Costco store are you getting them at?
Thanks
I will definitely let y’all know how they are in real life situations. I’ve worn hearing aids for around 20 years and have only had Phonaks. So my brain is accustomed to their sound. These sounded exactly the same as Phonaks to me.
Here in the Houston area they are currently available at the Humble and Pearland locations. I ordered mine from the Humble location.
