Phonak Infinio Sphere 90 review

Similarly, I’ll run my KS10s into the ground. I can only hope fervently that there’s a rapprochement between Sonova and Costco that brings a version of this tech to a lower price point. A guy can dream…

In Poland I paid for one piece of Phonak Audéo P90-RT ~8500 PLN (polish złoty), which is about 2100-2300$…

(price with charger without battery, receiver with earmold and adjustments + REM).

Yes, prices in France (just across the border for me) are not too bad.

Wow!! Fantastic review, I’m so glad you included updates after a week or two of use… I obtained demonstration instruments in my practice, and have had a few negative comments from my patients simply looking at the device since they are a bit larger than the previous models— but with your review on how they perform in background noise, it SOUNDS :hear_with_hearing_aid:like it’s worth the extra bulk. What’s your feeling on the larger size while wearing?

Thanks, but I didn’t trial it, only @pproducts and @AudioBlip :slightly_smiling_face:

I pay no attention to the bulkiness of the Infinio Sphere, given that my Nucleus 6 on a CI ear is always bigger than any HA.

I’ll say more. Before Phonak’s new platform announcement, I had hoped they would abandon the worrisome trend of making RICs and BTEs as small as possible at the expense of (mainly) battery life or functionality.

Simply many recent modern earplugs/earbuds not to mention headphones are larger than modern HAs so I don’t see any reason to infinitely reduce the size of RICs or BTEs (currently, but in the future that may change).

I’m glad that the Audeo Infinio Sphere has a rechargeable battery as large as a disposable 675.

I really don’t mind the larger size, actually I really don’t care what they look like so long as I can hear better. I also really like not having to charge the battery in the middle of the day.

I asked my wife and she said it really doesn’t make much of a difference.

Being able to hear all of my friends at a restaurant is priceless.

I should make one comment about noisy environments. It depends on the domes you are using and for most it’s not going to kill all of the background noise like some of Phonak’s videos show, but it does make it where you can hear everyone at the table. It takes a little while getting used to how they work.

After about 4 hours of being in loud environments yesterday, I had to take a nap. Being able to actually hear people instead of pretending you are hearing them is exhausting. :grinning:

Greg, I know you mentioned before you changed to power domes… are the HA’s adaptable to silicone moulds??

I hope the new iPhone comes with this feature as well.

incredible comments.

I have the same concern. Hearing in noisy environments is so tiring. I blamed it on getting older.

I wonder why our “medical devices” weren’t always made to perform in noisy environments?
It’s a fatal flaw that they don’t.

This is so exciting to me! I am getting HA for the first time after struggling for many years. I need a CROS. My first choice did not work with a CROS so I began looking for an alternative. In the meantime, Phonak comes out with the Sphere. I watched the initial videos and thought “This is what I want”. I was so disappointed that this model also does not work with CROS. It seems like every thing I read about the Infinio always mentioned the “superior” Sphere. It almost felt like “ha ha ha - and you can’t have it”. Your post REALLY caught my attention! If I’m understanding you correctly - you are hearing just as well or better with the Sphere as you did previously with your CROS. ?? My audi is in Austin but I live in the same town as you. Did your audi suggest trying this? I wondering if I can talk mine into letting me try. The more research I do, the more confused I get so I am happy to have found this platform. Getting information from someone with an similar audiogram is invaluable. Thank you.

I have a question for those testing the audeo Sphere. What is the sound of children, is the sound of speech better understood?

How about your experience?

For me the issue with big, heavy hearing aids is that don’t stay put when I bend over or am otherwise active.

I find that more of a drawback for RIC rather than the HA itself

Very interesting and informative.

Could you expand further on the “Voice Isolation setting on an Iphone.” I assume this makes it possible to use an IPhone in a noisy environment, which is currently near impossible on current models (P90), and was perhaps the only advantage of MFI aids over Phonak.

I agree with @PeterH and would add: “and for sound processors of cochlear implants”.

It is always individual and depends on the size of the auricle. For me, I did not like the overly small RIC/BTEs because they are physically unstable on my auricle, and I have difficulty using the rocker switch, particularly when I need to press it for a long time.

Just tried my bulkier (in width compared with the current Audeo Paradise 90-RT) old Bolero V70-P (BTE), and it is positioned nicely and stably. Using its button and switch is very comfortable, almost pleasant.

Thanks for this . I am having a test on Wednesday and wondering whether to go for the Infinio Sphere 90 aid. I’m new to all this so can you help about the ‘power’ domes? Do you get different ‘domes’ when you buy the hearing aids or do you have to ask the audiologist?

The type of domes will depend on your level of hearing loss. Personally, if they recommend power domes, I’d request either custom vented slimtips or c.shells, as power domes gave me dreadful occlusion (hearing my own voice too loud).
