Phonak Audeo I90-R cutting out outside

Thought I’d add an update: my audiologist ended up switching the HA that processes streaming from the right one to the left one about a week ago and they have not cut out since. Just wanted to throw that out there in case it helps someone else with their troubleshooting.

I’ve experienced a similar issue. In the interests of science, I’ve worn a warm hat everyday for a week while out in the cold. I haven’t had the aid cutting out at all.

Worth a shot.

So one might be defective?

I changed hearing care sources. My new Practioner made many improvements.
At the end of warranty he sent in both of my hearing aids and my charger. Phonak (bless them!) replaced all 3 items. They work better.

I think my original hearing aids were defective.

Just saying…hoping my experience helps you.

Oh, I was wearing a wool hat and my down parka hood over these and they were still cutting out. I really don’t think it had to do with the cold temps outside. Would have taken me 4 months to test it in warmer temperatures, though (Central Canada) so I am glad that switching the connection to the other HA fixed it.

Ya, mine are their “trial” model, so they wouldn’t be the actual ones I would keep if I go with Phonaks, but I have had a few other glitches with them, so am a bit discouraged about the technical experience. So, it is good to hear that your warranty experience was positive!

I received my I90 Spheres at the end of November, and since then the right aid (the one that handles streaming) randomly (once or twice a day) goes silent for 5 to 10 seconds and then resumes normal behavior. Happens inside, so it has nothing to do with temperature, nor does it seem to have anything to do with Autosense…

Mine still do something similar occasionally, and I think it’s when the phone connects to stream… nothing. I don’t know why it connects to stream nothing, but have seen the setting flick to “bluetooth streaming and mic” from e.g. automatic.

Receiver? Cable broken?

this can happen, if a app on the phone plays a short notification sound (playtime 1 or 2 seconds) , then you will hear nothing, because the timeframe for establishing the bluetooth connection last longer ~4 sec. than the played sound. And you just hear the drop and cutting out of the environmental sounds (from the microphone input) during switchoveer to bluetooth streaming and then switching back to normal HA mode.

So you have to find out which phone app is sending the notification-alert sounds and disable this notification sounds to stop the happening of this ocasionaly “cutting out”.

Yes, I started looking through the notification history on Android to see what came through just before this happens.

likely won’t find anything, or at least I sure haven’t. My hunches I think it has to do with whether you’re running the phonak app or not. But I can’t Repro it enough to verify that
